Overview:
This workshop is primarily for teachers and education assistants in schools who wish to strengthen their job applications.
Alan Kidd worked in Education for 37 years, 30 of those as a School Principal. He has worked in every level and size of school around Western Australia, was the Foundation Principal of Kingston Primary School and was one of the First 34 Principals to lead Independent Public Schools. In this time he has read thousands and thousands of job applications.
This workshop will draw on Alan’s experience to:
- Find out what makes applications get put to the bottom of the pile and which get a second read.
- Hear what frustrated the %$#@ out of him while reading applications
- Find out when there are 50-100 applications, what makes one stand out.
- Identifying the difference between what is read (the reader) and what is written (the writer).
- Explain why sometimes the most experienced teachers don’t get to interview.
- Give hope to graduates and inexperienced teachers.
- Give examples of what he liked to see in a job application structure and format.
- Explain why having an opinion is important.
- Explain why being a nice person is a key attribute.
- Explain why leaving your ego at the door is a must.
It must be stated that this workshop is sharing the ideas and experiences of one Principal, but be assured, there will be actions that all participants will take away that will change the way they write applications. He won’t be analysing sentence structure and the use of “buzz” words but he will give you a great grounding into what to put into those sentences.
Joelene Lavrick from Life Lessons Australia will be co-presenting this exclusive ‘Get the Edge’ workshop.
